Support Group: Navigating College With a Chronic Illness - Spring 2025 Coming Soon!

College is a huge transition for everyone, but adjusting can be even more difficult for those dealing with a chronic illness. This 6-week virtual support group is for all college students, whether they’re starting their first semester or their last. Join Sarah Criscuolo MS, RD, LDN, CSN, CPT and Leah Schulz MBA, CCES, CPT for weekly meetings to discuss topics like getting accommodations and preventing flares, and to meet others like you! As Sarah and Leah have both dealt with chronic conditions for most of their lives, they are uniquely qualified to help you. Each week will consist of a different theme in order to leave you feeling more confident in your ability to begin your life as a college student.

This support group will run the weeks of 1/20 - 2/24/2025, day of the week and time TBD.

Schedule:

Week 1: How to discuss your illness (with roommates, professors, dining hall directors)

Week 2: Healthcare while on campus (setting up a PCP/specialists, creating an emergency plan)

Week 3: Navigating the dining hall (nutrition label reading, getting set up with accommodations)

Week 4: Getting around your campus (utilizing the bus system, campus resources)

Week 5: Preventing flares and crashes (stress management, breathwork, tapping exercises)

Week 6: Best movement practices (gym, club sports, learning about and listening to your body)
